The city of Ft. Wayne declares Friday, Dec. 2nd “Joe Bonamassa Day”
November 30th, 2016 by JJ Fabini
Fort Wayne, Indiana: Joe Bonamassa, a long-time Fort Wayne concert favorite, is returning for a show at the Embassy Theatre this Friday, Dec. 2nd.
Joe Bonamassa has been performing professionally since 1989, when he was hired to open a string of 20 dates for his mentor, BB King, at the age of 12. Joe’s first appearance in Ft. Wayne occurred on November 4th, 1994 at the age of 17 when he was the lead guitarist for Bloodline, a band made up of the sons of musical notables Robby Krieger of the Doors, Berry Oakley of the Allman Brothers and Miles Davis.
Joe has gone on to become the top Blues – Rock guitarist in the world, having released 15 solo albums over the last 13 years, 11 of which went to #1 on the blues charts, and consistently selling out venues across the globe.
WXKE has a long history with Joe: in 2000, Joe was the most requested artist on the station with the release of his debut solo album “A New Day Yesterday”. Joe performed at the WXKE Christmas Party at the now-shuttered Hot Spot blues club on Fairfield Ave in 2001. Joe credits Ft. Wayne and his success here as one of the reasons he pursued a solo career rather than taking a job as a hired gun in an established band – a position he has been offered several times, and it is for this reason, amongst many others, that Mayor Tom Henry and the City of Ft. Wayne will proclaim Dec. 2nd, 2016 as “Joe Bonamassa Day” in Ft. Wayne!
This proclamation will occur during a meet and greet with Joe and fans backstage at the Embassy Theater at 5:30pm this Friday, Dec. 2nd. There are a limited number of media passes available to witness and chronicle this event. Please contact JJ Fabini ([email protected]) to request a pass.
WXKE is part of Adams Radio Group-Fort Wayne, with 8 stations serving the greater Fort Wayne Market. Adams Radio operates in 2 Indiana markets, Fort Wayne and Valparaiso. Its employees are well seasoned radio professionals who know how to work with local communities and businesses.
